Andrea Downing

President at PBS Distribution

Andrea Downing leads PBS Distribution, the global commercial distributor of public media content including critically acclaimed films from Ken Burns, hit drama series from MASTERPIECE, entertaining and educational PBS KIDS series, and award-winning documentaries.

Downing has spearheaded PBS Distribution’s evolution and growth in the streaming era, launching seven subscription streaming channels on Amazon Prime Video, and a portfolio of FAST channels including PBS Antiques Roadshow, PBS Retro, PBS Nature, and PBS Food through partnerships with platforms like Pluto TV, Roku, Prime Video and Samsung. These streaming initiatives add to PBS Distribution’s multiplatform approach to reach viewers wherever they are watching including, transactional video on demand and advertising-supported video on demand platforms, DVD and Blu-ray, theatrical releases, educational platforms, international linear channels including PBS America, and through inflight entertainment.  

Prior to joining PBSd, Downing served as Vice President of Home Entertainment and Partnerships at PBS, and as Director of Operations at Discovery Communications. She is an alumna of Michigan State University.

Downing is actively involved as a Board Officer in DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group, speaking at panels and conferences, and mentoring women in the industry.
