
Maggie McCarthy Baxter oversees NBCUniversal Local’s planning and production surrounding the 250th anniversary of the United States’ independence, which includes the NBC- and Telemundo-owned stations ‘Our 250 / Nuestros 250’ multiplatform campaign and NBCU News Group’s exclusive live coverage of Sail4th 250 in New York Harbor on Independence Day.
Baxter serves as Vice President of Programming for NBCUniversal Local in Boston, her role for more than 10 years. In this position, she oversees the development of original multiplatform content, branded content, program acquisition, and community outreach/programming supporting NBC10 Boston, Telemundo Boston and NBC Sports Boston, and formerly NECN.
Overall, Baxter has more than 35 years of local media experience. She joined NBCUniversal in 2016 after spending 25 years with the ABC-owned station serving the San Francisco Bay Area, ABC7 / KGO, a tenure that included 12 years as executive producer for local programming, a role overseeing the station’s daily shows, live events, documentaries and news specials.
Baxter began her career in newsroom positions at Boston’s WHDH, then a CBS affiliate.
Baxter, a graduate of Emerson College, is a member of the Board of Directors for the Boston Arts Academy Foundation, and was inducted into YW Academy of Women Achievers. For the last eight years, she has volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters in Boston.
