Mohamed Niaz Mohamed is the Head of Radio Unit (RU) R&D at Radisys and a Wireless & AI Infrastructure Architect with over two decades of experience in designing and delivering large-scale, carrier-grade mobile communication systems. His expertise spans 4G, 5G NR, and emerging 5G-Advanced architectures, with a strong focus on Open RAN, distributed RAN systems, and AI-enabled network intelligence.

He currently leads the development of next-generation Open RAN radio platforms, building AI-ready infrastructure that integrates advanced signal processing, real-time telemetry pipelines, and machine learning–driven diagnostics to enable autonomous, self-optimizing networks. His work bridges deep domain expertise across PHY/MAC/RLC/RRC/RRM protocol layers, fronthaul architectures, and DSP/FPGA-based implementations with modern cloud-native and distributed computing paradigms.

Over his career, he has architected and delivered high-throughput, multi-gigabit telecom systems ranging from tactical SDR platforms to large-scale LTE and 5G deployments, with a proven track record in creating scalable, high-availability infrastructure for carrier networks and edge computing environments. He also brings strong expertise in secure communication systems, including encryption frameworks, automated key management, and mission-critical network security.

In recent years, his focus has expanded toward AI-native wireless architectures, exploring how intelligent orchestration, edge AI inference, and sensing-communication integration (ISAC) will redefine network capabilities and economics in 6G-era systems. His work also examines sustainable monetization models and architectural transformation in AI-driven telecom ecosystems.

Mohamed holds an M.Tech in VLSI and a recent MS in Artificial Intelligence, with applied experience across deep learning, computer vision, NLP, time-series forecasting, cybersecurity AI, and cloud-based AI systems.
