Merrick Ackermans is a broadcast engineer and transmission specialist with more than three decades of experience across major media organizations. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Technology from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois.
Ackermans spent nearly 18 years at Turner Broadcasting System in Atlanta, where he held a series of engineering and management roles of increasing responsibility within the Turner Entertainment Group, culminating in Engineering Technology Fellow — a Senior Director-level position. His tenure encompassed both hands-on technical leadership and strategic direction across acquisition and transmission operations.
Following his time at Turner, he founded MVA Broadcast Consulting, providing principal engineering services to broadcast clients for over four years. He currently serves as Director of RF and Transmission Engineering at CBS/Paramount, where his work spans live transmission, remote production, and internet transport protocols including RIST.
An active contributor to the industry standards community, Ackermans has chaired multiple SMPTE standards committees and working groups. He is a SMPTE Fellow and a board member of the Video Services Forum, and has served SMPTE in various leadership capacities over many years, including multiple terms as Southern Region Governor and Atlanta Section Manager.
