
Luiz Fausto is a highly experienced media technology specialist with over 25 years of experience in the industry, currently serving as the Vice President of Standards Development at ATSC, The Broadcast Standards Association.
He has a proven track record of leadership, driving innovation as Chair of the Technical Module of the Brazilian Digital Terrestrial Television System (SBTVD) Forum (2020-2024), spearheading the TV 3.0 (DTV+) Project from the international “Call for Proposals” through the process of testing, evaluating and selecting candidate technologies, to the development of draft technical standards. He was also responsible for liaison relationships of the SBTVD Forum Technical Module with other Standards Development Organizations, collaborating to harmonize new technologies internationally.
Luiz is an active contributor to international forums, leading several technological developments on digital television, in ITU R SG 6 (Broadcasting Service) and its Working Parties since 2013, and in the Inter-American Telecommunication Commission (CITEL) PCC.II (Radiocommunications) since 2016.
He is engaged in key broadcasting technology organizations such as the Brazilian Society of Television Engineering (SET) and the Future of Broadcast Television Initiative (FOBTV), and is a frequently invited speaker at technology events (SET, ITU, CITEL, etc.).
His academic credentials include a Professional Master’s degree in Applied Computing, an Executive MBA in IT, a post-baccalaureate in Networks and Video over IP, and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis in Electronics.
