Laurie Freeman is a Partner at Bruin Capital, leading the firm's operating engagement with the management teams of Box to Box Films, FairPlay Sports Media, and Proof of the Pudding, bringing to the firm a combination of institutional finance leadership and global operating experience matched by few executives in sports private equity. Laurie led Bruin's operating partnership with Full Swing Golf through the company's transformation and 2026 exit to Versant Media Group. Under her leadership, Full Swing evolved from a golf hardware business into a diversified, multi-product sports technology platform: it became the founding technology partner of TGL, the primetime golf league founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy and broadcast on ESPN, for which it remains the technology backbone; signed an exclusive agreement with Back Nine Golf Group, a multi-state indoor golf franchise network, producing the largest order backlog in the company's history; and launched Skill Strike, a new in-game wagering product, alongside expansion into baseball, softball, and international markets. Over the course of Bruin's ownership, Full Swing's Adjusted EBITDA grew approximately 199%, and revenue grew approximately 124%. Across the rest of her Bruin portfolio, Laurie engages across the full investment lifecycle — from diligence through value creation and exit — partnering directly with CEOs on financial strategy, operating priorities, M&A integration, and growth planning. The companies she works with sit at the leading edges of the modern sports economy. Box to Box Films is the production company behind Formula 1: Drive to Survive, widely credited with reshaping global engagement with motorsport, along with the Netflix golf docuseries Full Swing and the tennis series Break Point. FairPlay Sports Media is the London-headquartered, AI-powered sports media and BetTech platform connecting tier-one betting operators, global publishers, and broadcast rights holders. Proof of the Pudding is a national leader in premium sports hospitality and one of the largest catering operators in the southeastern United States. Laurie joined Bruin in 2022 after more than two decades at TimeWarner and Warner Bros. Discovery, where her career was built at the center of the businesses that defined sports media rights. At Turner Sports, she led financial diligence on two landmark sports media acquisitions — Bleacher Report and iStreamPlanet — that transformed Turner's digital sports presence. She held financial oversight of Turner's relationships with the NCAA, the PGA of America, and Yahoo!, and contributed to the financial analysis underpinning the NCAA March Madness Collaborative Arrangement and the NBA renewal including NBATV and NBA Digital ventures — two of the most consequential digital sports rights transactions of their era. As divisional CFO for Technology and Corporate Functions at Warner Bros. Discovery, Laurie was responsible for approximately $5 billion in annual operating expenditures across Studios, Television Networks, and Streaming, including HBO Max and Discovery+. She led a global team of seventy finance professionals across Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, London, and Canada, oversaw the integration of the legacy Turner, HBO, and Warner Bros. technology organizations, and held corporate-function oversight spanning real estate, communications, human resources, legal, and finance. She was also an internal architect of HBO Max's financial infrastructure during one of the most closely watched streaming launches in modern television. Laurie is one of the most senior women in global sports investing, and the development of women in the financial professions has been a continuous thread through her career. She is a longtime member of Women in Cable Telecommunications, a former mentor in Warner Media's Women in Finance Program, and a frequent speaker at private equity and sports business conferences on women's leadership in male-dominated industries. The deliberately diverse global team she built at Warner Bros. Discovery remains, for many of its members, the most senior female-led finance organization they have worked within. Laurie holds a Master of Accountancy from Auburn University, where she graduated summa cum laude in 2001, and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Auburn University, where she graduated summa cum laude in 2000. She is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of CPAs, and she completed the Deloitte CFO Academy.
