Kelly Williams

VP, Engineering and Technology Policy at NAB Technology

Kelly Williams joined NAB in 1989. During his tenure he has focused on broadcast technology innovation and has managed a diverse portfolio of technical, regulatory, and legislative issues.  Currently, he runs NAB’s ATSC 3.0 laboratory.  In addition to Next-Gen Television deployment, Kelly focuses on cyber security policy, implementing video accessibility regulations in broadcast stations, as well as the Emergency Alert System and public alerting.

Kelly has participated in many industry technology committees including ATSC, NABA Technical Committee and ITU-R study group 6, IEEE 802, and the Consumer Technology Association Video Systems Committee (R4.) In addition, he’s represented broadcasters’ interests on numerous federal advisory committees.

Prior to joining NAB, Kelly spent 9 years in various engineering positions at WHMM-TV (now WHUT-TV) in Washington D.C. where he designed, installed, and maintained video production and post-production systems and was E-I-C for field operations (OB).  He is a member of IEEE, SBE and is a SMPTE Fellow.

Kelly has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Howard University.  He and his wife Jan have six grown children and reside in Washington, D.C.
