Johnny Green, Jr. is the president and regional general manager of CBS New York (WCBS-TV) and CBS Boston (WBZ-TV), where he leads the strategic direction, operations and editorial vision. In this dual-market leadership role, Green oversees WCBS-TV, WLNY-TV 10-55, CBSNewYork.com and WBZ-TV, ensuring high-impact journalism and community-focused content across platforms.
Green’s career with CBS began in 2015, and he has since held several key leadership roles, including vice president of news services at CBS News, where he managed CBS Newspath—the network’s satellite news-gathering service that delivers national and regional news, features, and live event coverage to affiliates nationwide.
Before his current role, Green served as general manager of WCBS-TV in New York and previously spent five years at WBZ-TV in Boston, where he rose from assistant news director to vice president and news director. His earlier career included producing and executive roles at NBCUniversal and WPIX-TV in New York.
Green has led coverage of major national stories, including the deadly Amtrak derailment in Philadelphia and the Merrimack Valley gas explosions in Massachusetts. His leadership has earned multiple News Emmy Awards, and under his direction, WBZ-TV received the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award for Overall Excellence in 2025.
A respected voice in newsroom innovation and diversity, Green is a member of the CBS Diversity Council and has served on the boards of the Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts and the Racial Equity Advisory Board in Boston. He is also a C-Suite member of The Partnership, a Boston-based organization dedicated to advancing multicultural leadership in corporate America.
Green is a graduate of North Carolina Central University and a member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
