Joe Krell is Vice President, Software Development and Engineering for Comcast. In this role, he leads the VIPER Video Engineering team at Comcast, where he is responsible for one of the largest and most sophisticated IP video delivery platforms in the world. The platform powers tens of millions of devices and supports 18,000 linear channels, more than one million on-demand assets, 1.5 exabytes of cloud DVR storage, and thousands of single live events each year.
Under his leadership, Joe’s team has pushed the boundaries of large-scale video architecture to redefine what’s possible in video delivery. A 20-year veteran of Comcast, Joe has been instrumental in developing and deploying video infrastructure for major company initiatives, including the transition from QAM to all-IP video delivery, and syndicating Comcast’s technology to partners in North America as well as Sky Glass and Stream in the UK, Italy and Germany.
