Chris McDonnell has been in the media business for over 35 years. After graduating from Northwestern with a journalism degree he began his career at Leo Burnett in Chicago – and then subsequently transitioned to the sales side of broadcasting. After nearly 20 years with the NBC station group in Chicago, San Diego and Dallas he joined Nexstar Media in 2017 after the company acquired the Media General station group. Having led Nexstar’s San Francisco media operations for four years, he then relocated to NYC in 2021 to lead WPIX, “New York’s Very Own” the flagship station of the CW network. Over the past four years PIX11 has increased its local programming to nearly 70 hours per week on linear, digital and social media platforms covering news, politics, sports and community engagement. The station also launched PIX11+, its locally produced 24/7 streaming service.
