Andy Gladding

SBE chapter 15 vice-chair, Chief Engineer at Salem Media of NY

A lifelong enthusiast of audio, music and radio production, Dr. Andy Gladding is a self-described “audio-junkie.” With a career spanning over 25 years working in New York City media, he has worked for major media organizations including MTV Networks, Westwood One Radio, Emmis Communications, Fox News Radio and Salem Media.

In 2015, Dr. Gladding returned to his alma mater Hofstra University, where he has been an adjunct professor of audio and the Chief Engineer for the nationally recognized student-run radio station WRHU Radio Hofstra University. Dr. Gladding has been a tireless advocate of the educational benefits and community engagement that college radio provides and has produced many nationally recognized NCE (Non-Commercial Educational) broadcasts, including The World Radio Day NCE Network, The BIG-88 New York and other high profile media events.

In addition to his role as an educator and technical mentor, he serves at the NYC Engineering Manager for Salem Media’s New York Cluster, maintaining NYC stations WMCA and WNYM. He is also the owner / operator of y AAA station 981KZE, which serves the Hudson Valley, Northwestern CT and Southwestern MA. As the Vice Chair for the Society of Broadcast Engineers Chapter 15, Dr. Gladding supervises mentorship programs for broadcast operations and engineering with the goal of helping graduating college students achieve employment at national media organizations.
