Live music productions already contain many of the building blocks of a modern broadcast operation: multitrack audio, extensive networking, communications, cameras, switching, recording and large production teams. In many cases, the infrastructure needed to create a high-quality live broadcast is already in place.

So what’s holding music back from fully embracing the remote production models that have transformed sports and broadcast?

Join renowned live sound engineer Brad Madix and Solid State Logic’s Mark Skipped (ex ESPN) for a forward-looking discussion exploring how remote, distributed and software-defined production could reshape live music. Drawing on real-world deployments and emerging technologies, the session will examine what can already be achieved today, why remote production can improve quality as well as efficiency, and how virtualization, edge computing and software-defined workflows could remove many of the remaining barriers.

Rather than focusing solely on technology, this session asks the questions many engineers are already considering: Why aren’t we doing this already? What challenges remain? And what becomes possible when music begins to leverage the infrastructure and workflows that broadcast has spent years developing?
