Gaining access to an audience has never been easier. Gaining access to great gear has never been easier. Is it possible to create polished, powerful content without the gear everyone else seems to be using?
Absolutely.
In this interactive workshop, we’ll discuss lighting and audio techniques with hands-on practice, allowing attendees to photograph setups, work with a model for various interview styles, and collaborate with the instructor on production and equipment setup.
Planning production will also include an overview of equipment that best-suits the needs of the production. Not all gear works for all types of capture scenarios!
Lighting – Experience portable lighting equipment that doesn’t break the bank yet while providing big budget quality, and experience a variety of guaranteed setups, built for speed and flexibility. Attendees will assist and direct lighting setup with the instructor. Attendees will also learn to set up custom lighting “presets” with certain brands of lighting product. We’ll be working with standard setups, but greater focus is placed on “this scenario is very different, how do I make it work?” adding cucoloris (cookies), ad-hoc adjustments, and how to rapidly adapt in changing scenarios.
Microlighting – This session will also highlight “Microlighting” techniques, using small battery-powered, backpackable lighting systems, and how they’re applied in various setups as production tools, but also creative lighting for backgrounds, product shots, etc.
Audio – Dive into this workshop where attendees will experience various microphones and learn where/how to use them. We will zero in on best practices for the various types of microphones and their specific use cases, including some of the challenges with wireless systems.
We’ll experience and experiment with different kinds of microphones, and do hands-on with placement and use
