NAB Show Executive Viewpoint
NAB Show Executive Viewpoint with Steph Lone, AWS Global Leader, Solutions Architecture, Media & Entertainment, Games and Sports
Inside the Shift to AI-Powered Media Workflows
Media companies are putting AI into production across live broadcasting, streaming, content creation and the media supply chain. They’re using AI to reformat live broadcasts for mobile audiences, automate media workflows, detect streaming issues and support new approaches to production and storytelling.
In a recent NAB Executive Viewpoint interview with NAB Show Vice President of Marketing Latesa Hughes and AWS Global Leader of Solutions Architecture for Media & Entertainment, Games and Sports Steph Lone discuss how media companies are using AI today, what AWS heard from customers at NAB Show and how AI could change media workflows.
Key Takeaways:
➡️ Media companies are putting AI into everyday workflows. At NAB Show 2026, Lone saw companies move beyond AI demonstrations and put the technology to work across video understanding, metadata tagging, localization, B-roll generation, ad optimization and other media operations.
➡️ AI can help broadcasters reach mobile-first audiences. AWS Elemental Inference uses AI to automatically reframe live 16:9 broadcasts into vertical video within seconds, helping broadcasters distribute content to social platforms while an event is still happening.
➡️ AI agents can identify and respond to streaming issues faster. Lone describes AI agents that continuously evaluate streaming systems, detect anomalies and coordinate responses across complex workflows, reducing the time it takes to identify and address problems while keeping people in control.
➡️ AI is changing how creators produce content. Lone points to real-time hybrid filmmaking as one example, combining live-action performances with AI-generated environments to shorten production timelines while keeping human creators at the center of the process..
