Guido Meardi is co-founder and CEO of V-Nova, where he is redefining how visual data is structured for the AI era. His work sits at the intersection of AI, video, and compute, driven by the belief that data formats are a critical and overlooked bottleneck in how digital systems scale.

Under his leadership, V-Nova has developed technologies and international standards including MPEG-5 LCEVC and SMPTE VC-6, while also contributing to key media standards like HEVC, AV1 and VVC. V-Nova’s formats enhance AI pipelines by enabling systems to access and process only the data they need, reducing data movement and improving compute efficiency at scale. This shift from monolithic data to hierarchical, compute-aware formats is increasingly central to AI performance. In parallel, V-Nova has also developed V-Nova PresenZ, a three-time Lumiere Award-winning format for immersive media, enabling cinematic volumetric experiences with full six degrees of freedom and integration with existing content production workflows.

Guido is a prolific inventor, with over 800 patents, and has been ranked the UK’s top inventor by number of granted patents since 2023. In creative arts, Guido is a member of the Board of Governors of Hollywood’s Advanced Imaging Society and was Executive Producer of three short movies. He also serves as Director and Vice Chairman of the Italian Foundation for Oncological Surgery, with a focus on AI and robotics applications in healthcare.

Before founding V-Nova, Guido was a senior partner at McKinsey, leading global transformation programs and building innovation-driven businesses. He holds an MBA from MIT Sloan, where he was awarded Siebel Scholar, and an MSc in Computer Engineering from Politecnico di Milano and the University of Texas at Austin.
