Gerardo Valencia Aguinaga is a Mexican colorist and post-production professional based in Mexico City. His work focuses on color grading and finishing workflows for film and streaming productions, combining creative color work with a strong emphasis on color management and technical pipeline design.
Throughout his career, Gerardo has worked across multiple stages of post-production—including dailies color, online finishing, HDR mastering, and theatrical color grading—collaborating on productions released across major streaming platforms such as Netflix, HBO Max, Paramount+, and Disney+, as well as independent films that have reached international audiences and film festivals.
Beyond his work as a colorist, Gerardo has developed a strong interest in the technical architecture of post-production workflows. His practice focuses on building collaborative environments that allow creative teams and post-production companies to work together seamlessly across different locations.
He is currently Head of Color at Caffeine, a professional color studio based in Mexico City dedicated to high-end finishing for cinematic and streaming deliverables. In this role, he contributes to the development of collaborative grading workflows that integrate cloud-based project environments, shared databases, and remote monitoring systems. These workflows allow directors, cinematographers, and post-production teams to participate in grading sessions and creative reviews remotely while maintaining accurate image representation and synchronized project environments across locations.
Through this work, Gerardo explores how modern post-production infrastructure—combining traditional grading environments with cloud collaboration and remote monitoring—can support a more connected and globally integrated post-production ecosystem.
