
Willem Vermost is Senior Media Technology Architect at the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), where he guides Members through their transition to live IP-based production and next-generation, software-centric workflows.
An electronic-engineering and applied-computer-science graduate with more than 20 years in broadcasting, Willem previously led Media Production Facilities at VRT (Brussels) and spearheaded the broadcaster’s award-winning Live IP proof-of-concepts. He has been instrumental in industry-wide initiatives such as the JT-NM Tested program and founded the open-source EBU Live IP Software Toolkit (LIST). Willem also served on both the JT-NM Administrative Board and the AWMA Board of Directors.
Within the EBU, he co-chairs the Strategic Program on System Design & Interoperability, and, as long-standing faculty of the EBU Academy, delivers master classes that align IT and broadcast specialists around IP production best practices. An active SMPTE member, his current work explores on-set virtual production and cloud-native media architectures, reinforcing his reputation as a trusted architect of the industry’s IP future.
