Rafael Parlatore

Director of Accessibility

MAV

With more than 18 years in the audiovisual accessibility field, Rafael Parlatore has built his career around expanding access to media, culture, and communication. He currently serves as Director of Accessibility at MAV, a Brazilian company dedicated to inclusive communication across film, television, live events, and cultural programming.

At MAV, Rafael leads the design and implementation of accessibility strategies for theaters, cinemas, festivals, corporate events, and audiovisual productions. His work spans closed captioning, audio description, sign language integration, and multilingual accessibility services, delivered in partnership with producers, distributors, streaming platforms, exhibitors, and cultural institutions. By embedding accessibility into planning and production workflows, he helps ensure inclusion is considered from development through exhibition.

Earlier in his career, Rafael served as Director of Audiovisual Accessibility at Steno Group, overseeing accessibility operations across legal proceedings, corporate environments, and live event settings. In addition to his operational leadership, he has contributed to the advancement of Closed Captioning and Audio Description standards and previously held the role of President of the EGA Accessibility Committee, where he supported initiatives aimed at strengthening collaboration and best practices in inclusive media.

Across each role, Rafael’s focus remains consistent: removing communication barriers and developing practical, scalable solutions that make audiovisual experiences accessible to all audiences.
