An Arab American award-winning journalist with more than two decades of experience in journalism as on camera senior correspondent and TV content lead.

Moawad is Editor-at-Large at Al Jazeera and the host of its flagship weekly programme From Washington. In this role, he leads high-impact editorial projects that bridge television, digital storytelling, and in-depth field reporting, shaping the network’s coverage of U.S. politics, global affairs, and the evolving media landscape.

Previously, Moawad served as Managing Editor of Al Jazeera, where he oversaw the network’s multi-platform newsroom and led major transformation initiatives. His leadership was central to modernizing editorial workflows, integrating AI-driven tools, and redefining how news is produced and delivered across platforms. He is the architect of AJA redefining news delivery innovation, a next-generation news-delivery model that blends automation, AI-assisted production, and real-time audience engagement.

Moawad participated in the Google–FT Strategies AI Launchpad programme, translating AI innovation into practical newsroom applications focused on efficiency, intelligent formats, and editorial empowerment.

With more than two decades of experience as a journalist, editor, and media executive, Moawad has been recognized internationally. He was awarded 2012 Journalist of the Year by the U.S. Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG) for frontline coverage, and received three awards at the 2012 New York Festivals International Radio Program Awards for his coverage of the Arab Spring.

He is also a frequent international speaker, having presented at major industry gatherings including the NAB Show in Las Vegas, IBC in Amsterdam, and multiple global media, journalism, and innovation conferences.
