The session will offer an overview and analysis of the C2PA technical framework from a data use and privacy perspective, presenting research featured in World Privacy Forum’s in-depth September 2025 report, “Privacy, Identity and Trust in C2PA: A Technical Review and Analysis of the C2PA Digital Media Provenance Framework” (https://worldprivacyforum.org/media/documents/c2pa_report.pdf). This research is the only independent, in-depth analysis of C2PA, aka Content Credentials, focusing on privacy, its connections to identity systems, and its “Trust Model.”
Kate Kaye is deputy director of World Privacy Forum and the co-author of the report. Following an engaging presentation of her ongoing research on C2PA and how it fits into the broader landscape of content provenance and media authenticity approaches, she will answer audience questions.
