Steve Shultis

Chief Technology Officer at New York Public Radio

Steve Shultis is a seasoned broadcast and digital media technologist, serving as Chief Technology Officer at NY Public Radio. With academic credentials in Sound Recording Technology (BS, SUNY Fredonia) and Music Composition (MA, UCSD), he launched his career at Bearsville Records and later held technical roles at California Audio Labs and Sony Classical Recordings.

At NYPR, Steve leads six technical divisions, spanning broadcast engineering, broadcast IT, media asset management, streaming, and more for brands including WNYC-FM/AM, WQXR-FM, The Gothamist, The Greene Space, and WNYC Studios. He has guided the organization through critical infrastructure projects, including post-9/11 broadcast restorations and the development of NYPR’s state-of-the-art SoHo studios and performance spaces.

An industry leader, Steve was honored with the 2023 Radio World Excellence in Engineering Award. He also chairs the Data Services & Metadata Subcommittee of the National Radio Systems Committee and is an active member of the NAB Radio Technology Committee, contributing to the evolution of radio standards, guidelines and practices.
