From Philadelphia’s inner-city waters to the world stage, Maurice Scott has carved a path defined by resilience, passion and vision.
Born and raised in the city of Philadelphia by two dedicated civil servants, Scott began rowing competitively in 2010 with Philadelphia City Rowing, a nonprofit program created to open access to the sport for inner-city youth. After his first year on the water, his talent earned him recruitment to the U.S. Naval Academy rowing team. After completing his first year there, a medical misdiagnosis forced him to step away, redirecting his journey but not his passion for the sport. His resilience led him to secure a full scholarship at Arcadia University.
Through Arcadia, Maurice was awarded another full scholarship to attend the University of New South Wales in Australia, where he proudly represented the university at the Australian University Games and competed in other major Australian regattas bringing home multiple medals across events. Returning to the U.S., he continued training at an elite level while using social media to share his passion for rowing. His presence and authenticity in this space have attracted numerous sponsorships and brand partnerships, positioning him as one of the pioneering athletes at the intersection of rowing and digital influence.
Scott is currently a U.S. Rowing Commentator and is also training for the 2028 Olympic Games in beach sprint rowing—the sport’s extreme cousin that combines speed, surf, and grit—out of the Long Beach Rowing Association, host of the 2028 Olympic rowing events. Beyond his own athletic pursuits, he is the founder and CEO of Rowfluencers, LLC, the first and only marketing agency dedicated exclusively to rowing, building bridges between athletes, coaches, brands and organizations with a mission to amplify voices in the sport and expand opportunities both inside and outside the rowing community.
He also serves as the co-founder and board member of Unity Boat Club, a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving youth, athletes with disabilities and veterans across Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina.
