William “Willie” Shelton is an independent consultant. He also serves on several corporate boards, advisory boards, and is Chairman of a non-profit in Colorado.
General Shelton retired as Commander, Air Force Space Command, in 2014. During his career, he commanded space operations units at every level and held staff positions in a wide range of Air Force and Department of Defense organizations. He commanded the squadron that operates the GPS satellite constellation and he later commanded organizations that controlled all DoD satellites. In his final assignment, he led a team of over 40,000 at Air Force Space Command, providing space and cyberspace operational forces for Combatant Commanders, as well as acquisition of DoD space systems, by leading execution of a $10 billion budget.
General Shelton earned a B.S. in astronautical engineering from the U.S. Air Force Academy, a M.S. in astronautical engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology, and a M.S. in national security studies from the National War College.
