Therese Gamba is chief marketing officer and executive vice president of acquired programming for NBCUniversal Local, which includes the NBC Owned Television Stations, Telemundo Station Group and NBC Sports Regional Networks; national multicast networks COZI TV, American Crimes and TeleXitos and 16 free, ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) channels.
In her acquired programming role, Gamba is the division’s primary contact for acquiring syndicated programming, overseeing the selection, scheduling and promotion of new programming. As chief marketing officer, she collaborates with local marketing leaders on the development and evolution of their brands and promotion, manages primary research and oversees The Arthouse, NBCU Local’s in-house creative agency.
Gamba also represents NBCU Local on the NBCUniversal Marketing Council, coordinating broader cross-company promotional campaigns and marketing efforts, including the Olympics and FIFA World Cup.
Gamba has more than three decades of media experience, including nearly 20 years in senior marketing and brand positions. She joined NBCUniversal in August 2011 as senior vice president of marketing for the NBC Owned Television Stations and has expanded her responsibilities as the division has grown to more than 50 local, regional and national properties.
Prior to NBCUniversal, Gamba worked as a consultant specializing in marketing and media strategies for a wide range of clients, including Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution. She spent seven years at the ABC Owned Television Stations from 2002 to 2009 as vice president of programming, advertising and promotion at KABC in Los Angeles and vice president of programming and station marketing at KGO in San Francisco.
Before ABC, Gamba worked at Viacom for four years as vice president of marketing for TNN: The National Network (currently known as The Paramount Network) where she was part of the team that rebranded the channel from a regional to a national network, and vice president of marketing for Worldvision Enterprises, where she led marketing of their syndicated programming, including Judge Judy.
Previously, Gamba was the director of advertising and promotions for Columbia-TriStar Television Distribution for three years, working on both business-to-business and consumer marketing campaigns for off-net and first-run programming. She was also a marketing and advertising consultant for Frank N. Magid Associates, where she consulted for television stations across the country. An award-winning producer and creative director, Gamba began her career in local radio and television in her native San Francisco.
Gamba is a member of the Advisory Network for The Change Engine and the Advisory Council of the Urban Arts. She has served on the board of directors of the New York Chapter of American Women in Radio and Television, was a member of San Francisco Leadership Class of 2006 and was on the board of directors of Junior Achievement of Southern California.
Gamba earned her B.A. in communications and government from St. Mary’s College in California, and a M.A. in radio and television from San Francisco State University.
