Steve Campbell

Engineer at Entronics

Steve Campbell, PE started his career in the entertainment industry in his family-owned movie theatres, being more interested in the mechanics than the content.  Upon entering college at Montana State University, Bozeman to study Electrical Engineering, Steve met a fellow EE student who was the engineer and nighttime DJ at a class 4 AM station.  After projectionist and nighttime air shifts duties ended at night, the two studied EE at the radio station (a study that involved copious amounts of Canadian Mist).  The radio bug bit Steve, and the two formed a contract engineering business, Entronics, servicing both radio and movie theatres.  After a time, radio became the principal firm’s endeavor and in 1987 an upstart broadcast company, Citadel Communications Corporation purchased one of the firm’s client stations.  Steve became the Director of Engineering for Citadel through the end of the Larry Wilson era of Citadel and oversaw the engineering growth of Citadel to approximately 250 stations.  Returning to contract and consulting engineering in Las Vegas in 2002, Steve had a brief stint in radio ownership and was happy to return to engineering.  Upon semi-retirement, Steve has become involved in the ABIP inspection process which has led to involvement with the SBE subcommittee redrafting the Broadcast Guides.
