Sean Anker is the Chief Technology Officer for WFYI Public Media, serving Indianapolis and central Indiana with PBS, NPR, and local content. Sean is a television production and lighting geek who fell into engineering and technology because of his rampant curiosity. He is a boomerang employee of WFYI, having started his career there and returning in mid-2023 to the newly created CTO role. Before coming back to Indiana, Sean worked at WFXT in Boston as Director of News Technology and then Director of Engineering. At WFXT, he worked on several key technology initiatives for the station and Cox Media Group, making it through a significant ransomware attack along the way. He also spent 15 years in New Mexico working in DoE and DoE + Production roles. New Mexico stations have very large transmission networks, and Sean led the stations he worked for through transitions from analog to digital across all systems. His work included the complete redesign and upgrade of a statewide bidirectional analog microwave distribution system to a highly integrated digital network.
