Mike has worked at Heartland Video Systems (HVS) for over 20 years, focusing on Call Letter TV systems. HVS is a systems integrator and has been involved in over 90 ATSC 3.0 market launches with BitPath, Pearl, and self-launched with our help. Mike’s primary focus was ATSC 1.0 Encoding and PSIP, and he has commissioned hundreds of ATSC encoding systems. Almost five years ago, HVS made the decision to focus Mike’s efforts on ATSC 3.0. HVS built an ATSC 3.0 lab where they have all major equipment available, allowing them to quickly mockup any system and test changes or ideas offline. HVS has equipment from multiple vendors from encoding through exciter, including consumer TVs and set-top boxes, as well as multiple vendors of test equipment and monitoring gear. This variety of equipment allows HVS to verify compatibility with various brands, as well as functions of latest software releases. Mike works closely with Pearl, A3SA, EIDR, BitPath, and consumer electronics companies to help solve problems and develop and test features like Stat Mux, HDR, Atmos, Signal Signing, DRM, and Virtual Channels.
