Regional Director of RF Transmission at TelevisaUnivision

Joe Seccia is Regional Director of RF Transmission for TelevisaUnivision. Joe is responsible for all aspects of TelevisaUnivision’s RF system infrastructure for the Eastern USA.

Prior to joining TelevisaUnivision, Joe was with GatesAir / Harris Corporation for over 30 years, most recently as Principal Architect for TV transmission products.

While at GatesAir / Harris, Joe held positions of increasing and varied capacity within the engineering and product management groups including solid-state amplifier design and digital signal processing. Joe played a key part of GatesAir / Harris’ digital television development beginning in 1995, most recently in shaping the advanced broadcast transmission standards and technology enabling several major DTV transitions, including ATSC 1.0 and ATSC 3.0.

Joe also consulted with several pioneering broadcasters to enable several historic DTV firsts, such as the world’s first baseball game broadcast in HD over 8-VSB by WHD and WETA, and John Glenn’s return to space, which was carried live in HD. He also aided customers in Brazil in bringing DTV to reality there, including the first broadcasts in ISDB-T in São Paulo.

As a dedicated, hands-on collaborator, NewBay Media awarded Joe as an Industry Innovator Award in 2017.

Joe is the co-author of several industry patents and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications and Electromagnetics from Michigan Technological University and a M.S.E.E. from National Technological University. Joe is a member of the IEEE, The Association of Federal Communications Consulting Engineers (AFCCE) and a registered Professional Engineer.
