Geert Heirbaut

Advanced Technologies Manager at Olympic Broadcasting Services

Geert Heirbaut is Advanced Technologies Manager at the Olympic Broadcasting Services, where he manages the integration and deployment of innovative technologies to enhance production efficiency and broadcast quality in the Venue Technical Operations department.

With a BSc in Multimedia & Communication Technologies, he gathered more than a decade of experience while engineering the most complex live TV broadcasting events (Eurovision Song Contest, Olympic & Paralympic Games, FIFA Worldcup Football, etc.) and continued pushing the envelope as consultant and project manager for multiple large TV broadcasting firms and manufacturers, sharing knowledge for generations to come.

With a focus on scalability and resilience, Geert currently manages a team and works with third-party contractors and partners to implement advanced workflows, including UHD HDR, virtualized production systems, and cloud-based infrastructures. A key achievement in his career at OBS was managing the groundbreaking project to introduce Virtualized Outside Broadcast vans (VOB) for the Olympic Games in Paris and beyond.
