Eric Black is the CEO and CTO of Uplynk, leading the company’s innovation and growth in delivering world-class linear, live, and on-demand video experiences. A 20+ year veteran of the digital video and live streaming industry, Eric has been at the forefront of media technology, driving advancements in scalable streaming solutions.
Prior to leading Uplynk, Eric was the Chief Technology Officer and General Manager of Edgio Media, overseeing the company’s media technology strategy, including its CDN and streaming platform. Before that, he spent over two decades at NBCUniversal, driving digital innovation for some of the most-watched live events in history. He led the first-ever live stream of a Super Bowl in 2010, played a pivotal role in six Olympic Games—including the record-breaking Rio 2016 Olympics—the 2018 FIFA World Cup, and multiple presidential debates. Additionally, he was instrumental in launching NBCUniversal’s Peacock in 2020.
Eric’s contributions to live streaming and media technology have earned him nine Emmy Awards, two IOC Gold Rings for Best Olympic Digital Service, and an Edward R. Murrow Award. He was also honored with a Technology and Engineering Emmy Award for pioneering the delivery of pay-TV linear video over IP.
