Sr. Counsel, Music Business & Legal Affairs at NBCUniversal

David Flanzer is the Senior Counsel, Music Business & Legal Affairs at NBCUniversal in Los Angeles. He is the lead music attorney on a wide range of motion picture titles, including the Fast & Furious franchise, Illumination’s Sing franchise, Universal’s The Fall Guy, DreamWorks Animation’s Dog Man, as well as films from Blumhouse, Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions, and Focus Features.

David oversees public performance licensing and handles negotiations with the performing rights organizations (PROs) for the entire NBCUniversal enterprise, including the company’s slate of television networks (NBC, CNBC, MSNBC, USA, E!, Bravo, RSNs, etc.), streaming services (Peacock, Fandango at Home), owned-television stations, and FAST channels. David also advises all areas of the company on complex music matters including mechanical reproduction rights obligations for TV and film, rights management and licensing-out of NBCU’s library of owned musical recordings and compositions, rights necessary for theme park activations and live shows (film-to-orchestra, stage adaptations, etc.) and business and legal affairs matters for NBCU’s in-house record label, Back Lot Music.
