Small-To-No-Crew Cinematic Video Lighting Field Workshop

Saturday, April 6, 2019
9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Instructor: Jem Schofield
Requires separate registration: $575

Cinematography is comprised of three main disciplines. Lighting, composition & camera movement. For many people, lighting that's the most mysterious and the hardest to master. Jem Schofield of theC47 and guest instructors will take attendees through how to light for documentary, in-house and corporate based projects. This one-day field workshop will take attendees through the process of planning & lighting using largely low-key, cinematic techniques. This class will feature lighting, lighting control, composition and camera set-ups to teach you how to light for a wide range of projects. It will also discuss and demonstrate certain "rules" that can be followed to help you consistently shoot great looking and natural one and two camera interviews.

Night Flight UAV Field Workshop

Saturday, April 6, 2019
1:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.

Instructor: Douglas Spotted Eagle
Requires separate registration: $575

Night flying has a higher accident rate than identical day flying, both in UAV and manned aviation. Why? Depth perception is severely distorted, as is reaction time. There are also visual illusions that need to be recognized and mitigated. This session will provide information that will allow pilots to sidestep these challenges, while properly assessing and managing the risks associated with night flight (as waived per Part 107.29). You’ll also learn the foundation of applying for a COW/COA for night flight from an experienced night-flight pilot. After a comprehensive theory session, we will board the bus from the LVCC and go to the night flight location for some practical experience. We’ll present different types of visual illusions that commonly occur at night. In this practical hands-on class, we will discuss visual illusions as well as best practices for night flying. We will cover Autokinesis and Night Landing Illusions and how to avoid them.  We will also discuss acclimating your eye for night flight. We will also cover the use of lights to illuminate our subjects and how to avoid “light contamination” in our eyes.

Small-To-No-Crew Corporate & In-House Production Field Workshop

Sunday, April 7, 2018
9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Instructor: Jem Schofield
Requires separate registration: $575

More and more companies are building in-house production teams to create ongoing content for their products and services. Generally, this is accomplished by creating small crews that are tasked with the entire production to post-production workflow. Additionally, corporate video production companies are changing in terms of their structure and resources. While the equipment has gotten better and also less expensive, the crews have gotten smaller! With this new production landscape this full-day field workshop by Jem Schofield of theC47 will focus on small crew video production where you will learn about effective project planning, HDR production, small crew production gear, lenses (primes versus zooms), related support gear, audio recording tips & tricks and, of course, lighting techniques that are best suited for small crew corporate productions.

Explore the global innovation destination that powers what the industry creates and how the world consumes.
