Content Theater is a state-of-the-art 300-seat screening room centrally located in the Central Hall of the NAB Show. Projection is provided on a 13'-6" x 24' screen by the newest high-end digital cinema projectors with 5.1 surround audio.

In 2009, the Theater sessions will again include the latest offerings in the world of 3D, VFX & Animation, as well as Broadband, Mobile and New Ventures in content. In addition, new sessions will be added examining the latest technologies and innovative approaches in broadcast and cable television production.

3D Case Study: Pixar Stereoscopic
With two features releasing in 2009, Pixar is moving to the forefront of 3D cinema. In this case study we will examine the process developed for resurrecting the 14-year-old "Toy Story" images, the production process used in the upcoming feature release "UP!" in 3D, and the use of 3D in Pixar's story-telling. Dave Salmoni recently returned from spending six months embedded with a pride of lions in Africa. Meet Dave and his special guest - an African lion cub. Some of the technology utilized in this groundbreaking production included:
  • 3 Panasonic 900s
  • Dave's personal camera – the Panasonic P2
  • A POV camera called a sting camera, with a variety of lenses
  • A "pole camera" as a bush jib to add perspective
  • Cineflex helicopter shots
  • 4 night time motion sensor cameras set up as camera traps around the camp and on kills
  • 2 heat sensor cameras called a "FLIR"
  • 2 "Astroscopes" or "image intensifiers"
